About Us

Dennis Applegarth has been in professional photography since 1976, when he began working as a wedding photographer for Richards Photography in Beatrice, Nebraska.  Shortly after purchasing the studio in 1984, Dennis was joined by his wife Norma, whose skillful management and bookkeeping acumen keep the studio running efficiently.  With the arrival of their 3 children, they have since enjoyed home schooling and working together as a family.

With over 30 years in professional photography, Dennis has photographed thousands of weddings, as well as celebrities, politicians and business leaders from across the country.  Specializing in wedding and portrait photography, he has build a substantial reputation for his work with children and families.  Dennis serves as adjunct faculty at Southeast Community College in Beatrice, where he has taught photography for over 20 years.  In 2002, Dennis was awarded the Silver Service Degree from the Professional Photographers of America for outstanding service in professional photography.

In 2001, the Applegarths bought the building at 612 Court Street in Beatrice, and remodeled it into a beautiful 15,000 square foot studio.  In 2007 they opened an office in the National Building in Omaha's Old Market, and have recently established an office in Lincoln as well.

Dennis and Norma are passionately pro-life, and are co-founders of the CareNet Pregnancy Resource Center in Beatrice, now located at 8th and Ella Streets in Beatrice.  They have organized the annual LifeChain in Beatrice since it's inception over 20 years ago, and remain committed to the notion that all innocent human life is of infinite value, and worthy of protection.

Dennis is a guitarist and vocalist for the band "Used", and has written many of the songs for their upcoming self-titled debut album.  The Applegarths serve together on the Homestead Church worship team, with Dennis leading worship, Norma playing keyboards, their son Jonah playing drums, daughter Jessica singing, and daughter Janelle helping with graphic design. Dennis also serves in leadership and teaching roles at Homestead.

Dennis and Norma are active in the Gideons International, where Dennis is currently serving as Nebraska State President.  An accomplished speaker, Dennis was awarded the ATMB degree from Toastmasters International in 2004, and is currently working on his ACS degree. He conducts seminars and workshops on leadership and customer service topics, and can be booked for speaking engagements through his website at www.applestudios.com/seminars.
